Vancouver, BC – October 20, 2025 — Optima Living has released its inaugural 2024/2025 Responsibility & Growth (ESG) Report, showcasing measurable progress in sustainability, social impact, and good governance across its 39 communities in Alberta and British Columbia.

Rooted in the organization’s North Star — Let us welcome you home™ — the report demonstrates how Optima Living continues to build communities where people feel safe, supported, and at home, while fostering accountability and transparency across its operations.

“Our mission has always been about care — for our residents, employees, communities, and our planet,” said Ali Shivji, Principal, Optima Living. “This report reflects our belief that growth must be responsible, sustainable, and grounded in the values that define who we are. We are investing in systems and partnerships that ensure we create lasting value while deepening our positive impact.”

Highlights from the 2025 Responsibility & Growth Report include:

Environmental Stewardship

  • Smarter Operations: Rolled out a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) in 15 communities, improving efficiency and extending equipment life, resulting in a 28% reduction in maintenance costs and measurable energy savings.
  • Energy and Emissions Goals: Partnered with energy experts to achieve a 20–24% reduction in energy use and emissions across participating communities.

Social Impact

  • Welcome Home Initiative: Helping refugee families rebuild their lives through employment and education, with plans to welcome 55 families by 2026. The first group—the “Fantastic Four”— arrived in 2024 and are training as healthcare professionals.
  • Innovative Dementia Care: The Men’s Memory Enhancement Program at Everitt Gardens has eliminated all major behavioural incidents, improving safety and quality of life for residents.
  • Community Connection: Residents and staff donated 30,000 pounds of food—a 504% increase over the first foodbank drive in 2022— and partnered with Fraser Health and BC Housing to provide homes and care for previously unhoused seniors.

Good Governance

  • Cybersecurity and Compliance: Achieved a 400% increase in cybersecurity training and a 22% drop in phishing failures, while establishing a new legal and compliance function to strengthen oversight.
  • Transparency and Data: Launched a framework to develop a centralized ESG dashboard and analytics system to enhance performance tracking and accountability across communities.

As one of Western Canada’s leading seniors living operators, Optima Living continues to advance its environmental, social, and governance goals through clear accountability, collaboration, and measurable outcomes.
