Feeling at home is about more than a place to live. It’s about the reassurance of familiar faces, meaningful connections, and a sense of belonging that deepens over time.

Westsyde Landing – formerly known as The Hamlets at Westsyde – is a vibrant seniors living community in Kamloops, BC offering Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Long-Term Care.

The Same Team, Service and Care… With a New Name

At Westsyde Landing, senior living is warm, inviting, and full of connection.

While the name of the community is new, the heart of Westsyde Landing remains the same: the people, the care, and the strong sense of home that residents, families, and team members know so well.

Many Westsyde Landing residents have lived in the neighbourhood for years, while others chose this community to be close to family.

Over time, those long-standing relationships have built a deep sense of trust — between residents, families, and the team members who support them every day.

There is a strong intergenerational spirit reflected through initiatives like the on-site daycare and the Westsyde Wardrobe, alongside moments of joy and expression through music therapy and weekly musical programming.

Surrounded by trails, the riverbanks of the North Thompson River, and natural beauty, Westsyde Landing has always been a place that exudes calm, warmth, and quiet connection.

What’s in a Name?

Over the past months, we took a close look at what makes this senior living community in Kamloops so special.

What stood out was not just the building, but the life within it.

Westsyde Landing is Optima Living’s largest and most diverse seniors community, supporting residents across independent living, assisted living, and long-term care in Kamloops, while allowing people to age in place and couples to remain together as care needs evolve. It is a place shaped by connection, continuity, and belonging.

Arrival and Stability

We’re proud to share both the new name and a new visual identity for Westsyde Landing.

A landing is a place of arrival and stability; it’s a place to pause, feel secure, and know you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.  It signals a welcoming, supportive community where people feel grounded and supported, while also looking ahead with confidence and optimism.

“Westsyde Landing really feels like coming home,” explains Christine Wheeler, Community Relations Coordinator. “From the moment people walk in, it’s welcoming and comfortable — a place where you can settle in and feel supported by a close-knit neighbourhood.”

The new visual identity draws inspiration from the North Thompson River and the surrounding landscape, reinforcing themes of care, protection, and community. The overall look is calm, nature-inspired, and approachable, aligning with the Optima Living family while giving this community its own distinct presence.

Surrounded by the natural beauty of the riverbanks and the heart of Westsyde, our refreshed logo and colours are inspired by nature: calm, warm, and easy to recognize.

Westsyde Landing has always helped people feel settled, supported, and at ease. The new name, logo, and colours commit that feeling to paper.

For residents and families, this means walking into a place where names are remembered, routines feel familiar, and care is delivered with consistency and compassion — today and as needs change in the future.

Introducing Dottie the Duck

Dottie the Duck is another new addition to Westsyde Landing: a friendly symbol representing community and care.

Ducks move together, supporting one another along the way, just like the residents, families, and team members who make WestsydeLanding such a supportive place to live. Ducks are often found along calm riverbanks and are known for their gentle nature, adaptability, and strong sense of togetherness. Much like our residents and team members, ducks move forward together, supporting one another while navigating life’s changes.

Dottie is a symbol of the warmth, approachability, and care at Westsyde Landing, and was intentionally designed to feel welcoming rather than corporate. She adds a sense of personality, familiarity, and whimsy to the new name and look, serving as a friendly symbol to welcome our team members and residents home to Westsyde Landing.

How We Name our Communities (and Why it Matters)

At Optima Living, we believe great communities are built around people, place and community.

While every Optima community shares the same commitment to hospitality excellence, person-centred care, and creating a warm space to welcome our residents home, every one also has its own unique identity rooted in people and place. We want our team members and residents to be proud of that identity, and for our residents and team members to feel part of the neighbourhood in which they live and work.

“Naming a community isn’t just about branding. It’s about reflecting the neighbourhood it’s a part of and the people who live and work there,” explains Karim Kassam, Co-Founder and Principal of Optima Living. “When a name is connected to people and place, it helps the community feel more personal, and it’s easier for us to deliver on our North Star: Let us welcome you home.”

Although we have a new name, what matters most at Westsyde Landing remains the same: the people, quality care, and sense of home in our senior living community in Kamloops, BC.

Let us welcome you home to Westsyde Landing.
