Your Senior Years, Your Way:
Planning a Life That Reflects You
Change brings new opportunities to grow, explore, and live with purpose. Your senior years can be a time of joy, creativity, and connection, shaped by your choices and what matters most to you. At Optima Living, we see aging as a celebration of experience and possibility. A chance to create a life that feels vibrant, fulfilling, and truly your own.

On Healthcare Aide Day, we celebrated the incredible caregivers who brought compassion, comfort, and joy to every moment of care.
For Healthcare Aide Nanou Suamy, these moments of connection are what matter most: “Even when their memory fades, they still remember me. They look at my face and smile — it feels like a prize.”
From gentle smiles to meaningful connections, our Healthcare Aides continue to make a difference in the lives of our residents each and every day. We thank you for all that you do.

Community improves every aspect of life, including your health!
Did you know that being surrounded by a great community has a wide range of benefits for your physical health? In fact, research has indicated that people who belong to strong communities tend to have lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol levels, and a lower risk of obesity. They are also more likely to exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet!

Celebrating Health Care Aide Day with our amazing team! We are so thankful for all of your hard work.

Recently, we celebrated our fourth anniversary since we opened our doors with a grand celebration alongside our residents, team members, and families. We also welcomed home members of the Steveston Buddhist Temple, including new temple president Doug, as well as Leanne, our Regional Operations Manager, and Calvin, our Executive Director of Finance. Residents cut the cake to mark the occasion, and we all enjoyed a delicious salmon barbecue, our last of the season, perfectly timed with the fall equinox! The afternoon was filled with laughter, a touching slideshow of memories, and beautiful piano music that made the day truly grand.

Happy Diwali & Bandi Chhor Diwas from Wisteria Place! Our residents celebrated the Festival of Lights by crafting their own beautiful diyas (lanterns) and learning about the meaning behind Diwali and Bandi Chhor Diwas. Both festivals teach us that no matter how hard the journey of truth and goodness may be, the outcome is always filled with light and positivity.

Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours! This season reminded us of the love and joy that family and community bring. We were thrilled to host a big community Thanksgiving brunch at Wisteria Place, filled with laughter, warmth, and cherished moments shared with residents, their families, and friends.

Cheers! Oktoberfest made an appearance at Cottonwood Village. Residents enjoyed plenty of food, drinking, games, music, and laughter. A wonderful reminder to enjoy the big and small celebrations that life throws your way!

October started beautifully at Laurel Heights as we celebrated National Seniors Day with a charming High Tea! Our residents were treated to a lovely spread of sweet and savoury treats, warm tea, and even warmer smiles. It was a day full of laughter, memories, and special moments that reminded us how much we cherish our amazing seniors. Here’s to making every day as sweet and meaningful as this one!

Prost! On October 2nd, Laurel Heights was alive with the festive spirit of Oktoberfest! Our residents enjoyed a fun-filled day with German beer, savoury meatballs, mini pretzels, and sweet ginger cookies, all while classic German tunes played in the background. Laughter, cheers, and good food made it a celebration to remember!

From family and friends to simple everyday joys, our residents shared beautiful reminders of what truly matters this Thanksgiving.

We celebrated Care Aid Day with a pizza party and some photo ops! We are thankful for our hard-working team members every day.

Gratitude was in the air at Rutherford Heights! Our community gathered for a cozy Thanksgiving Celebration filled with connection, warmth, and of course — a slice (or two!) of delicious pumpkin pie. Here’s to good company, full hearts, and all the sweet moments that make this season special.

At Oakwood Manor, one exciting development in recent months has been the introduction of new technology—specifically, SMART Boards, interactive projectors, and larger televisions—that is transforming the way our residents learn, play, and connect. This new technology initiative was made possible through the NHSP Government of Canada Grant.

Let’s pause to appreciate the stunning dessert our talented chef crafted for our residents at Oakwood for Thanksgiving. Pumpkin mousse in a house-made chocolate cup and in-house candied pecans. This is just one of the many tasty and beautiful desserts our residents get to enjoy!

It has been quite the season for Cycling Without Age! From a record-breaking 607 rides given, to the exciting addition of a brand new trishaw to the Red Deer Chapter—made possible through their partnership with Deer Park Village and support from the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) grant. Elvis even took the inaugural ride on the new trishaw before the team joined the Westerner Days parade and brightened the day of countless seniors in Red Deer. Throughout their season, we were fortunate to welcome Cycling Without Age to our community multiple times, including Seniors Week, our outdoor summer market, and as part of our regular recreation programming. We’re already looking forward to next season!
We had a great time at our Thanksgiving party! We enjoyed the pumpkin cheesecake we made together (it tasted even better because we made it ourselves!) and sipped on yummy pumpkin spice lattes. The best part? Hearing our residents share what they’re thankful for, many mentioned the joy of living here and the wonderful team members. A truly heartwarming afternoon!

ONE HUNDRED AND COUNTING! We celebrated Arta’s 100th birthday at Cedarwood Station, and it was pure joy! With love from Artas’ family, and all our residents, we are so lucky to have not 1 but 2 centenarians amongst our community. A big thank you to Mayor Peter Brown, Councillor Tina Petrow, and Councillor Al Jones for stopping by to celebrate with us.

Gathered in gratitude, full hearts and fuller plates, we extend our sincerest appreciation to all friends and family for their presence at the Inglewood Senior Living Thanksgiving dinner. This heartfelt gathering provided a wonderful opportunity to connect and enjoy a delightful meal together.

At The Hamlets at Duncan, a celebration was held for Truth and Reconciliation Day, honouring the strength, resilience, and wisdom of Indigenous Peoples across Canada. Together, we continued learning, listening, and standing in solidarity.

We have suites available across our various communities, and we’d love to show you around. To get a feel for what living in our communities is like and to meet some of our residents and team members, you can book a private tour. Click the link below to schedule your visit. We hope to see you soon!
