Bring a Tin for the Bin: Optima Living Launches 2026 Food Bank Campaign with Community Spirit and Friendly Competition 

At Optima Living, we’re committed to People, Place, and Community. This summer, that commitment will come to life in our communities and support offices with the launch of our 2026 Food Bank Drive, which brings residents, team members, families, and local partners together to support food banks across Western Canada. 

Running from June 1 to July 19, Optima Living’s Food Bank Drive invites all Optima Living communities across B.C. and Alberta to take part in either Bring a Tin for the Bin or Stuff the Bus food drive campaigns, alongside community-specific events and initiatives to encourage participation at each location.  

“Every year during our Food Bank Drive, our communities come together in ways that go beyond food donations, shares Heather Collingridge, Director, Sales Strategy at Optima Living. “It’s about how people come together, how they take part, and the difference they create in the communities around them.” 

In 2025, Optima Living communities contributed more than 35,000 pounds of food and donations. In 2026, we are working toward a shared goal of 50,000 pounds.  

Crowning a Food Bank Champion: Adding Friendly Competition to the Optima Living Food Bank Drive 

Just as Optima Living residents enjoy watching and cheering during the NHL playoffs, Olympics, and other local and global sporting events, this year’s Food Bank Drive happens to coincide with Canada’s role as co-host of the soccer world cup.  

This means every Optima community has the chance to fire up their competitive spirits in more ways than one.  

On the sporting side, each Optima community has been “drafted” to celebrate one international team throughout the five-week global soccer competition. Themed activities such as watch parties, intergenerational programming, and dining and exercise programs will make for a busy recreation calendar in each community. The community that raises the most food bank donations will become the 2026 Food Bank Champion, and the community whose team wins on the field will be crowned winner of the Optima Cup.  

Why Our Annual Food Bank Drive is Always a Win-Win

At each and every Optima Living community, our Food Bank Drive comes to life in unique ways as team members and residents come up with creative ways to drive donations, engage in some friendly rivalry, and have some fun. 

The annual Food Bank Drive is just one example of how our residents live purposeful and joyful lives in Optima Living communities, where continuing to give back is valued and supported.  

All food bank donations will stay local, directly supporting individuals and families facing food insecurity in the areas our communities call home. 

As the campaign begins, we are grateful for the continued enthusiasm and generosity across our communities. From the smallest contribution to the largest collective effort, every bit matters.
