The Aster Gardens Grand Opening celebration on June 27, 2022 was a resounding success. Although Aster Gardens has been open since March of 2021, this event was the official opening celebration of the innovative Optima Living community. With over 300 people in attendance, including residents, family, friends, and local dignitaries MLA Nate Glubish, MLA Jordan Walker, and Mayor Rod Frank, the event was full of festivities and good company.
Kicking Things Off
Opening the event with a lineup of lively songs was the local band Dahlia and the Villains. Residents and attendees could be seen dancing on the grass or listening and waving their arms from suite balconies.
An Investment into Sherwood Park
Mayor Rod Frank welcomed the crowd to the Grand Opening and acknowledged councillors Dave Anderson, Bill Tonita, and Robert Parks who were in attendance. MLA Nate Glubish voiced his excitement of seeing the vision, effort, and investment become reality. MLA Jordan Walker thanked Optima Living for the vote of confidence in this community by building Aster Gardens, the tallest standing structure in Sherwood Park.
A Meaningful Community
Linda, a family member of a resident, said “If you’re on the fence on which retirement home to choose, you will not be disappointed with Aster Gardens.” Aster Gardens General Manager Karen Fitzgerald expressed her gratitude towards the Optima Living community, saying what an honour it is to be a part of Aster Gardens where, “we are not just following the rulebook, we are rewriting the book in senior’s care.” Following the formalities, attendees of the outdoor event enjoyed the beautiful weather and food trucks, taking tours of Aster Gardens, and dancing to the music. The event was enjoyed by all, and resulted in nearly 100 tours.
