Transforming memory living

SPARK: Memory Living by Optima is a form of specialized care that caters to individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, other related dementias, and memory concerns. It draws on our own experiences, clinical best practices, and evidence-informed research. This program inspired the development of our Memory Living Neighbourhoods, which provide 24-hour supervised attention, care, and support in an intentionally designed, home-style space.

Driven by passion, knowledge, experience, research, and partnerships, we created SPARK to provide the highest possible quality of life to people living with memory concerns through the provision of care enriched with love, respect, and trust in a safe and comfortable environment.

Build a vision through expertise, research, and collaboration.

This vision has been fuelled by our own personal and professional experience providing supportive living services and residential mental health services, combined with clinical best practices, evidence-informed research, and key partnerships. These partners include the University of Alberta’s Dr. Adrian Wagg, the University of Manitoba’s Dr. Zahra Moussavi, Personalized Dementia Solution’s Karen Tyrell, Grier Dementia Training’s Kim Grier, and many others.

Partnerships driving innovation and excellence.

We partnered with the University of Alberta to build SPARK: Memory Living by Optima, a best-in-class Memory Care model. Our knowledge partnership with the University of Manitoba gives us access to their innovative technology to create and test the Mind Triggers app to see if brain health disease can be delayed or deferred in a live incubation environment. We have also created partnerships with colleges to support programs, including the Healthcare Assistant Program and the Supportive Care Assistant Program. These programs allow us to inspire and empower a new generation of students to engage in seniors’ housing and care.

On behalf of the entire Optima Living family, a special thanks to our many partners who contributed to the realization of this dream. Our vision of SPARK, a world-class Memory Care and Brain Health program where everyone can live their best life, would be impossible without their generous collaboration and support. These partnerships help us be able to deliver on our promise of Let us welcome you home.
