Spring is in full swing and it’s the perfect time to freshen up your space and start a herb garden! Growing an indoor herb garden has many benefits. Not only do they add greenery to your space, but they are fun, healthy, and rewarding projects. Here are five easy steps to start one of your own!
1. Plan your garden
The first step to starting your herb garden is planning what you will be using your garden for. Herbs have many purposes: they can be used in cooking recipes, in tea, as decoration, and much more! Ask yourself how you want to use your garden and then you can determine which plants to buy.
2. Buy your herbs
After you have planned the purpose of your garden, the next step is buying the herbs. Local greenhouses and garden centres are great places to start. They have a great selection and knowledgeable employees who can help you with any questions.
3. Find a plant pot
When it comes to a plant pot, are you looking for form or function? The correct answer is both! The third step is to find a container which can integrate into the existing decor of your indoor space while being the correct size to fit all of your herbs.
4. Plant your herbs
Set your garden up for success! Since plants will expand as they grow, knowing where to place plants and how far to space them apart is key. Make sure you give them room to breathe.
5. Enjoy!
A healthy herb garden is a happy herb garden. Place your garden where you can frequently see and water it, and where it can get some indirect sunlight. Remember to enjoy and use your garden as much as possible!
