Maintaining a positive outlook in later life can have significant benefits for our health and well-being. There have even been Ivy League university studies proving that a happy attitude about ageing could lower risk for conditions such as diabetes, stroke, and heart disease, as well as loneliness and depression.
Here are five steps seniors can take to cultivate positivity and improve their overall health:
Practice gratitude: One way to foster positivity is by focusing on the good things in life. Take time each day to reflect on what you're thankful for, whether it's a supportive friend or a beautiful sunset. Keeping a gratitude journal can help you remember and appreciate these blessings.
Stay connected: Social connections are essential for seniors' mental and emotional health. Make an effort to stay in touch with friends and family, whether it's through phone calls, video chats, or in-person visits. At every Optima Living community, we encourage as much social time with loved ones as possible.

Aster Gardens
We love hosting "Meet Your Neighbour" events at Aster Gardens! It is a joy to hear everyone's stories, and be able to get to know those who live in our community more in depth. Our test kitchen always brings exciting things! Recently we tried sushi, and for International Women's Day, celebrated with mimosas, fruit, and sampled cheeses, all of which were huge hits! Take a look at what we're up to this month!
Wisteria Place
This month was filled with so many wonderful activities! We celebrated Brazil for Cultural Days, had a beautiful event for International Women's Day, made Venezuelan Arepas and Chilean Completos Hot Dogs, took a bus trip to a local restaurant Seto, and so much more. Take a look at what we're up to this month!

Aspen House
We couldn't love our new community mascot more!! We're still deciding on a name for him, so stay tuned to see what we pick! We loved seeing our residents Susan and Andy taking charge of the new Aspen Stop and Shop where fellow residents can come by and pick up some tasty snacks throughout the day.
Norman Manor
In March, we had family and friends of our community visit for a social! It was very special to show them around, meet each other, and see what life is like at Norman Manor. We also loved celebrating St. Patrick's Day with decorating some vases.
