The Hamlets COVID-19 Prevention and Response
Communities worldwide have had to adapt to the unprecedented circumstances brought on by COVID-19. The pandemic highlighted just how important it is to be prepared and vigilant. The Hamlets rose to meet the demands of this challenging time to adapt to the new normal of COVID-19.
Our goal
Our team at The Hamlets has always considered the Health and Happiness of our residents to be our utmost priority. The seniors and residents of our communities are at a higher risk of contracting the virus, therefore in mid-March to respond to COVID-19 we created and implemented a Prevention and Response plan to provide our residents with the necessary safety and support.
Our goal was to make our residents’ life as comfortable as possible in our homes. All the while, we have adhered to the expert sources (mainly B.C. provincial regulations and guidelines for the pandemic). We are happy to report that our residents and their families cooperated with our team, our Hamlet Hero’s, to follow protocols and preventative measures. So far, as many other care homes have, we managed to avoid the spread of the virus in any of our homes.
Prevention and Response Plan
Many of our families, residents and various government inspectors that have been welcomed into our homes have commended us for our Prevention and Response too. Our protocol involved performing simulations to decrease risks and to identify and tackle any loopholes in our safeguards. Meanwhile, we have ensured sufficient supplies, PPE equipment, and usage training to handle any possible outbreaks. The leaders in each of our homes are in constant contact with one another and the Hamlets Support team who regularly communicate with relevant authorities to stay on top of the news, learnings, and directives and respond accordingly.
Additionally, the team at our homes has treated any presumed case with the utmost seriousness by immediately implementing the outbreak protocol. On top of this, we have kept our residents and their loved ones in the loop. We have maintained a steady flow of information between all involved parties. All parties have been informed about policies, such as our approach to outside visitation, to ensure we can enforce these safety measures successfully.
Support in The Hamlets
We need to remember that our focus is on physical distancing, not social distancing. Social support is an essential part of coping with these new conditions. Keeping this in mind, in addition to facilitating in-person visits as best we can we have also created and posted a Connect With A Loved Oneon our website. This form will allow residents’ friends and family to communicate.
All this would not have been possible without the support of our residents, their family members, and our team of Hamlets Hero’s. Our Hamlet Heros have been open and have met every challenge with dedication and passion. Each one continues to ensure that our residents have access to a clean and sanitized home and provide any information and support the residents and family require. We thank them for their loving care, passion, and dedication.
