An innovative intergenerational program, "Together We Grow," run by the Edmonton Public Library, was recognized with an Excellence and Innovation Award from Alberta Municipal Affairs Minister Ric McIver. This amazing initiative was launched last year at Rutherford Heights. The program allows infants and their parents to engage with seniors through singing, storytelling, and shared activities. Secondly, Airdrie’s U16 AA hockey team created a memorable Thanksgiving for residents at Cedarwood Station by delivering over 85 meals after learning the building's elevator was out of order. The initiative began when hockey mom Sarah Barton discussed the elevator issue with Janaya Stevenson, a Cedarwood staff member, during a game.
Barton shared, "There’s a lot of elderly people who can't go up and down the stairs, including my grandma." The young players' visit brought joy to many residents, with General Manager Bianca Bedford noting, "It warmed the [residents'] spirits... to know that there are young people in our community who care."
